Recycling

Anderson Township’s commitment to recycling benefits both the environment and the community. Each year Anderson emerges as a recycling leader (compared to other area communities) and was recognized by Hamilton County in 2016 as having the Best Township Recycling Rate. Anderson is awarded reimbursement monies from the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District based on how much material residents recycle. This funding supports several activities such as the township’s drop-off recycling center, the purchase of products made from recycled materials, and portions of the township’s quarterly newsletter, Anderson Insights.

RECYCLING OPTIONS

There are several convenient ways to recycle in Anderson Township. Curbside pickup is available with your weekly garbage pickup, with certain limitations. Paper (break down cardboard), cans (remove lids/tips), bottles and jugs, and cartons can be recycled at the curbside. Also, do not include batteries or plastic bags in your curbside or drop off recycling. All containers must be empty. Please place materials into recycling containers loose (not in plastic bags).  Check your trash hauler’s restrictions.

The Anderson Township Recycling Center, perhaps the busiest drop-off recycling facility in Greater Cincinnati, is located at the Anderson Township Operations Center, 7954 Beechmont Ave. This center accepts cardboard (break down), newspaper, for bottle and jugs, if the mouth is smaller than the base it is recyclable. The new addition of plastic tubs includes yogurt containers, fruit, pudding, jello cups, butter, sour cream, cottage cheese tubs, specialty dips such as hummus tubs, etc. - make sure to reattach the lid. There is not a difference between what is accepted at public drop off locations versus the curbside collection for recycling.  Other items, including certain hazardous waste materials, can be recycled at various outlets in the Anderson area.

Not for Curbside or Drop-Off Recycling - No receipts, plastic bags, cassette tapes, bed sheets, clothing hangers, metal chains, garden hoses, batteries, needles, syringes, electronics, polystyrene foam, EPS (hard, rigid styrofoam), buckets, plastic salad boxes, blueberry, strawberry, etc. containers, car parts, food, yard trimmings, light bulbs, drinking glasses, ceramics, pots & pans, scrap metal, etc.

Have questions about recycling? Visit HamiltonCountyRecycles.org or call the Hamilton County Recycling Hotline at 946-7766.  Recycling in Hamilton County does not accept all plastics #1-7. We only accept Bottles and Jugs (with lids on), regardless of trash hauler.
