Road Maintenance
The primary function of the Public Works Department is routine road care, including maintenance and repair of curbs and sidewalks, storm sewers and snow removal. Public Works also supervises design of street improvements, street resurfacing and lighting districts.
Most residents know the employees of the Public Works Department as the individuals who brave the weather to remove ice and snow off neighborhood streets. Streets are cleared on a priority basis and our drivers have a reputation for their fast and efficient service. On an average, 4,000 tons of salt and 7,000 gallons of calcium chloride are applied in a typical winter.
The Township’s Street Paving and Repair Program strives for quality management of all township streets through a rating system using detailed statistical analysis. Seasonal time restraints, budget and workload determine the number of streets to be completed annually.
Anderson Township has 118 miles of roadway under its jurisdiction, mostly subdivision streets with over 90 miles of sidewalk.
