Sheriff's Citizens Academy
The Sheriff’s Citizens’ Academy is a twelve week program designed to provide the participants
firsthand knowledge about how the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office operates. Participants will learn about the roles and responsibilities of sheriff's deputies and the inherent dangers and stress involved with law enforcement.
During the class, participants will learn more about the office's policing and organizational philosophy.
Topics include the history of the Sheriff’s Office, patrol, criminal investigations, community policing and specialized units.
Academy instructors are department personnel and civilian guest speakers. Each instructor teaches in his/her area of expertise drawing from years of training and experience in their area of responsibility.
The class is open to Anderson Township residents. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass a criminal background check.
