Free Gun Lock

Free gun locks available locally through Sheriff’s Office

Anderson residents who are concerned about firearm safety can obtain a free gun lock through the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

The gun lock is offered through the Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Project ChildSafe, a nationwide program that promotes safe firearm handling and storage. Information supplied by Project ChildSafe notes that cable locks require that many types of firearms be unloaded before the cable lock is installed, providing an extra level of safety.

Provided gun locks can be used for all types of firearms (handguns, revolvers, rifles and shotguns).

Obtaining the gun lock is easy. They may be picked up at the District 5 substation, 7954 Beechmont Ave., Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
