Get Rid of Hazardous Household Waste on September 26

Are you storing hazardous household waste in your home or garage, not knowing where to dispose of these items? Do you have containers of pool chemicals, unneeded stain products, pesticides or old jugs of antifreeze that need a new home?

Saturday, Sept. 26 is the day to safety dispose of these hazardous items, in the Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Event sponsored by the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District.

Residents of Hamilton County are asked to first register for the drop-off event, which lasts from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Norwood. Go online to sign up at http://hamiltoncountyrecycles.org/index.php?page=hhw-collection-event or call 946-7766 to register by phone.

Hazardous products that will be accepted at the drop-off site include (and please see file below for more information):

  • pesticides
  • automotive fluids (i.e. gasoline, motor oil, antifreeze)
  • home improvement products (varnish, stain, paint thinner, paint stripper, adhesives)
  • cleaning products (drain cleaner, ammonia, bleach)
  • lawn and pool chemicals

Please note, due to revenue reductions, the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District advises that next year they do not anticipate hosting this event.
