Storm Sewers Not Made For Leaves

A reminder from the Public Works Department in Anderson Township: Please do not blow or stack your leaves on sidewalks or in the roadway. Leaves can pack the storm sewer system and cause flooding or property damage when the water backs up.

Which drains are storm drains? Storm drains are visible from the street. They are designed to route rain runoff into large pipes that lead directly to major ditches and waterways. Please make sure that nothing but rainwater flows from your yard into storm drains.
