Five Mile Road Continuous Flow Intersection Scheduled to Open May 19-20

Work on the continuous flow intersection at SR 125 (Beechmont Avenue) and Five Mile Road in Anderson Township is near completion. The project included relocated travel and left turn lanes along Five Mile Road, new right turn lanes from SR 125 (Beechmont Avenue) to Five Mile Road, retaining wall, and ADA compliant crosswalks and ramps for pedestrian access.

The traffic switch for this new intersection configuration is scheduled to take place Friday, May 19, beginning at 11 p.m. Please be aware of the following:

 • There will be no change to the traffic pattern on SR 125 (Beechmont Avenue);

• Traffic patterns for the left turn lanes to SR 125 (Beechmont Avenue) from Five Mile Road are relocated. Drivers turning left onto SR 125 (Beechmont Avenue) from Five Mile Road will no longer turn at the intersection; dedicated left turn lanes will be accessed prior to the intersection.

• Drivers should be aware of two new signals located to the north and south of SR 125 (Beechmont Avenue). These new signals will be turned on “FLASH” mode prior to the CFI opening;

• Large overhead signs and pavement markings will be in use to direct traffic on Five Mile Road. All temporary traffic control devices will be removed with the exception of the work zone perimeter signs.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office patrols will be on site to monitor traffic during this implementation period. Drivers are encouraged to approach the new intersection and traffic configuration with caution; expect some delays.  To help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as the traveling public, motorists should remain alert, reduce their speed and watch for stopped traffic while passing through a work zone.
