Memorial Day Remembrance/Bell Ringing Ceremony
Remember heroes of America’s armed forces history and the country’s fallen veterans during the Memorial Day Remembrance and Bell Ringing service on the outdoor plaza at Anderson Center overlooking Anderson Lake. The annual event starts at 11:45 a.m., rain or shine.
Included in the solemn remembrance of veterans is the reading of names of deceased members of the armed forces. If you wish to have your loved one’s name read during the ceremony, sign in by 11:45 a.m. The ceremony starts at noon.
Speaking will be Ronald Chapman, commander of the American Legion Department of Ohio.
A remembrance wreath will be placed at the base of the American flag, the site of the future veterans’ memorial, and a three-volley rifle salute will be conducted over the lake, with “Taps” echoed from the overlook.
The event is sponsored by the Anderson Township Veterans Memorial Committee. Contact Molly Mohrfield at 688-8400 or mmohrfield@AndersonTownship.org with questions.
