Court of Appeals Comes to Anderson Township
Hamilton County’s First District Court of Appeals comes to Anderson Township this month to try actual court cases open to the public. Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road, is the host site for the Court of Appeals set for 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25. All are welcome to attend this offsite community court hearing.
The off-site hearing is part of the Court of Appeal’s effort to meet off-site periodically to expose members of the public to its processes.
The Court of Appeals hears cases where individuals seek review of a decision made in a lower trial court. One side argues that the trial court made a mistake that should be rectified by the Court of Appeals. The other side argues that what took place in the trial court was proper under the law. A three-judge panel presides over each case to ensure a more thorough review and an effective way to eliminate any prejudices.
