Emergency Services Day
The Beechmont Fire Station becomes a center of activity on Saturday, Oct. 7, when the focus of the day is education and hands-on learning about safety.
As part of the township’s third Emergency Services Day, Anderson Township Fire and Rescue and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office team up to share educational experiences just for kids. The station at 7954 Beechmont Ave. is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Activities include plenty of pretend safety scenarios, including a simulated “fire” situation allowing children to knock down “flames” with a hose, a turn at being a patient in an ambulance, and a trip through a fire simulation trailer. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office deputies will have personnel and apparatus on hand, too.
“We invite everyone to another great opportunity to bring our neighborhoods together and promote safety,” said Cpl. Dave Boiman with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.
“After the success of last year’s event, we encourage you to stop by with your children to enjoy learning more about safety in a kid-friendly, hands on fashion,” said Fire Chief Mark Ober with the Anderson Township Fire and Rescue Department.
Lt. Big Ben, the township’s fire department mascot, plans to make an appearance at the event. Additionally, children can try on fire gear and take photos of themselves in uniform.
The event coincides with the annual Fire Prevention Week, which has the theme of “Every Second Counts- Plan 2 Ways Out.”
