September 30th - Travel Through Anderson Area’s Past During ‘Tour of Historic Anderson’ Event

Free self-guided tour on September 30 opens doors to pioneer homes, historic businesses and locations connected to area’s past.

If you’ve seen Anderson’s historic buildings but never visited some of them, take an afternoon to tour some of these still-standing places of interest during a special event called, “Tour of Historic Anderson.”

Scheduled for 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, the free go-at-your-own-pace experience opens some of the places that have shaped Anderson’s history. The tour includes a school that is now a restaurant, a 200+ year old log cabin, one of the oldest stone houses still standing in southern Ohio, and the Johnson Hills Park home. The event is part of the township’s celebration of its 225th anniversary.

A downloadable map found on AndersonTownship.org provides an overview of all the participants with historic details on each stop. Hard copy maps also are available at Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road. A history app has also been prepared for the event which can be used for a drive-by tour of these properties. This online tool may also be accessed at AndersonTownship.org or https://arcg.is/01Hqmi.
