Memorial Day Observance Set for May 27

A solemn remembrance of those who served in the armed forces is scheduled on May 27 at Anderson Center.

The Anderson Township Veterans Memorial Committee returns to the center this year to observe the township’s annual remembrance of fallen veterans.

Hosted on the outdoor plaza, rain or shine, the event is set for 11:45 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27.

Included in the solemn remembrance is the reading of names of deceased members of the armed forces. Sign in by 11:45 a.m. to have a loved one’s name read during the ceremony. The ceremony starts at noon. The speaker is Army Colonel Grant Jacoby, one of only two from Cincinnati to fight in Desert Storm and receive a Purple Heart.

A remembrance wreath will be placed at the Memorial and a three-volley rifle salute will be given over the lake, with “Taps” echoed from the overlook.
