Learn More About Suicide Prevention at Seminar

Learn how to recognize the signs of a mental health emergency on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at a special seminar hosted by the Anderson Mental Health Collaborative. The free event is hosted at 6:30 p.m. at Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road.

Speaker Melanie Palmer, director of training at Child Focus, will explain the QPR method which details warning signs of a suicide crisis. The QPR method includes Questioning, Persuading and Referring the person in trouble.

Anderson’s Mental Health Collaborative includes a variety of health and wellness professionals, plus community leaders and volunteers. Committee members  have committed to begin a discussion about the ongoing healthcare crisis in mental illness. The group has hosted a variety of seminars with topics including addiction, mental health for seniors and services for children with mental health issues.
