Anderson Township Operational Changes

In an effort to promote social distancing and reduce the spread of the coronavirus, Anderson Township has announced a number of operations changes. These are subject to future changes, but as of Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at 4:00pm,  these are as follows:

Board of Township Trustees Meeting:

  • Board fo Township Trustees Meeting will be held Telephonically/Video for the Month on June.

Citizen Committees:

  • Until further notice, all volunteer non-statutory citizen advisory committees will meet “virtually”, using a conference call system.

  • Committees that require public hearings, such as the Anderson Township Zoning Commission and Anderson Township Board of Zoning Appeals, are still scheduled but will be held telephonically/video.

  • Meetings will be “hosted” at Anderson Center, so members of the public seeking to attend may do so, but they will be physically separated from staff and seating will be spaced further apart.  Meeting information, including agendas and committee materials, will be posted online at www.AndersonTownship.org, in advance of each meeting. Please click on “Committees” to search the respective committee to locate these materials and stay engaged in the work of your local government. The respective call-in number for these meetings is 1-408-418-9388, and codes for upcoming meetings are as follows:

Anderson Center:

  • Members of the public may drop off plans and pick up items, 8 a.m. -4:30 p.m.; however, efforts are being taken to minimize face to face interactions.  Instead of coming to Anderson Center in person, the public is urged to contact staff via email or telephone, which will be provided in the lobby area.

  • Events staff continues to work with building renters to encourage the cancellation/rescheduling of Center events.

  • For now, Anderson Center will remain open, including access for Anderson Center tenants and CoWorks members.

Fire & Rescue:

  • Continued monitoring and adjustment to response procedures to ensure compliance with CDC recommendations.

  • Non-essential inspections or re-inspections are cancelled.  Life safety or final inspections with the Hamilton County Planning + Development Department are continuing. 

  • Tours, family visits, vendor/sales calls, blood pressure checks, car seat inspections, ride-along program, and classes held at the stations are cancelled.

  • Food donations will not be accepted at the stations.

  • Public outreach events in the stations or in the community are cancelled.

  • The Meeting Room at Station 22, 7036 Main Street, which is managed by the Village of Newtown, has been closed to public use by the Village.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office:

  • Sheriff’s Deputies will have limited response to certain calls for service, prioritizing responses to those report crimes that are necessary to protect the public.  Priority will be given to crimes in progress, crimes of violence, crimes requiring the collection of evidence and structure fires.

  • Reports for non-violent crimes or crimes that are not in progress will be taken, over the phone.

  • Deputies will only respond to auto accidents when a person is injured, vehicle blocking traffic way requirement a vehicle tow, or any other unusual circumstances.  Drivers involved in minor accidents should exchange information or respond to the nearest Sheriff Enforcement District to file a report.  Drivers have 72-hours to report these incidents.

  • All ride-alongs, including Special Deputies, Explorers, and civilians, are cancelled.

Planning and Zoning:

  • Expect a delay in response to complaints. The normal 24-hour inspection period may not be adhered to.

Public Works:

  • Interactions will occur, whenever possible, in open air areas with separation.

Anderson Township Senior Center

  • The Senior Center closed at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 13.  It will remain closed until further notice.

  • Part-time staff are calling Senior Center members periodically to check on their well being.

  • Cincinnati Area Senior Services is delivering meals for those in need.

Our immediate priority is the safety and well-being of our residents, as well as our fire, EMS, and sheriff department personnel who are on the front line every day and have instantly become an even more critical part of our operations amid this outbreak.” notes Trustee Chair, Josh Gerth.

Gerth added, “In addition to following orders from the state and county, our local response to COVID-19, our team at Anderson Township is committed to the continual operations of all other aspects of running our Township as best we can. However, I am asking our community to have patience with certain functions that may need take a backseat to our response to this outbreak.”
