Virtual Open House – Rambling Hills Drive Sidewalk Project
Welcome to the Virtual Open House for a proposed sidewalk project on Rambling Hills Drive! Over the past year, Anderson Township has been working with the Kleinger’s Group, along with residents on Rambling Hills Drive, on construction plans for a new sidewalk on Rambling Hills Drive. This project would connect sidewalks on Beechmont Ave to the existing walk that ends on Topaz Drive. The project is being pursued by the Township in an effort to improve pedestrian safety on the street, and as an alternative to the Paddison Road sidewalk project which was initially intended to provide connectivity between Beechmont Avenue and Bluecrest Drive. The Paddison Road project was cut short at Woodcroft Drive due to property owner concerns, however we feel the Rambling Hills project would add a parallel connection.
At this time, Kleinger’s Group has identified 2 alternatives for this project:
- Alternative A: Construct a 4’ wide sidewalk with a 5’ wide grass strip on the WEST side of Rambling Hills Drive from Beechmont Ave to 1405/1402 Rambling Hills Drive. With this alternative, the sidewalk would transition to a 5’ wide on-street pedestrian lane on the WEST side of the street until 1437 Rambling Hills Drive. The sidewalk would pick back up near the intersection of Topaz Lane and connect to the existing sidewalk.
- Alternative B: Construct a 4’ wide sidewalk with a 5’ wide grass strip on the WEST side of Rambling Hills Drive from Beechmont Ave to 1405/1408 Rambling Hills Drive. With this alternative, there would be a mid-block crosswalk near 1405/1408 Rambling Hills and the sidewalk would continue on the EAST side of the street to another crosswalk at the intersection with Topaz Lane to connect to the existing sidewalk.
Both Alternative A and Alternative B would entail modifications to on-street parking in some areas. Anderson Township is currently exploring funding options for construction and any sidewalk that may be built would be maintained by Anderson Township. To complete your participation in the Virtual Open House, we ask that you please contact the Planning & Zoning Department with your preferred alternative, along with any questions or comments on the plans.
