Clough and Endovalley Crosswalk Signal Coming Online October 14

One of the busiest crosswalk areas in Anderson Township is getting a safety boost.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 14, the Clough-Endovalley Drive crosswalk in front of Juilfs Parks will feature a new pedestrian hybrid beacon, which is a pedestrian-activated crosswalk signal. This signal is designed to stop vehicles when someone activates the light to cross the road.

This innovative safety device is one of many efforts the township has undertaken to protect pedestrians and cyclists. It’s also one of the first of its kind in Greater Cincinnati.

This specific signal technology has been proven to reduce crashes and encourage drivers to yield at wider intersections that handle a high volume of pedestrians.

Developed by Anderson Township, the project was funded in part by an Ohio Department of Transportation grant through the OKI Regional Council of Governments.

To learn more about this crosswalk innovation and “how to” guides for both pedestrians and motorists, see page 18 of the Anderson Insights newsletter at  https://andersontownshipoh.gov/Portals/andersontownship/Documents/Departments/Newsletter%20Insights/AT%20Insights%20Aug%2025pg%20B2654%20Web.pdf.
