New Exhibit in Anderson's History Room

Anderson’s History Room now features a restored 1777 English cannon on display until March 1 as part of its ongoing exhibition of artifacts and memorabilia accessible to the public.

The History Room is located on the lower level of Anderson Center, 7850 Five Mile Road. Enjoy a free self-guided tour on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The almost 250-year-old cannon was captured by and rebranded by the Fifth NY Infantry Regiment. Along with the cannon, the unit flag of the regiment is displayed.

The History Room, a collaboration between Anderson Township and the Anderson Township Historical Society, provides a place to learn more about the people, places and events that shaped the area, from prehistoric inhabitants to today.

The room includes one of the oldest reminders of the township’s farming and pioneer heritage: a portion of a corn crib salvaged from a structure constructed in the early 1800s.
