Emergency Supply Tips

With a winter storm heading our way, including subsequent prolonged subfreezing temperatures for next week, if you haven’t done so already, consider adding items to your supply kit:

• Rock salt or other environmentally safe products to melt ice on walkways. Visit the Environmental Protection Agency for a list of recommended products.

• Sand to improve traction.

• Snow shovels and other snow removal equipment.

• Sufficient heating fuel and/or a good supply of dry, seasoned wood for your fireplace or wood-burning stove.

• Adequate clothing and blankets.

• Flashlights and batteries

• Several days of necessary medications

Please note that generators and fuel should always be used outdoors and at least 20 feet away from windows, doors and attached garages.
