Volunteers are always needed and appreciated in Anderson Township for many service opportunities occurring throughout the year.
If you have a desire to assist with township events, consider joining the ongoing Event Corps, a group of volunteers who provide support for events like the July 4th Parade, the Anderson Garden and History Tour and special holiday happenings.
Help meet the “on demand” volunteer need for an individual, small or large group, or organization.
These include adopting a roadway, assisting at the senior center, advancing a cleanup of a Greenspace property or painting fire hydrants. Other ideas for volunteer projects are always welcome.
Short-term opportunities do not require trustees approval, and they are not standing committee appointments.
Other longer commitments include work on recycling, native plants, workforce development, trees, planning and zoning and senior center support.
Applications are due October 1.
Township trustees appoint six standing committees for a specific purpose. They have a one-year term:
- Anderson Plan Implementation Committee is charged with implementing the township’s Comprehensive Plan and other plan updates to focus on several priorities. These current areas of focus include recycling, mobility, native plantings, preserving natural and environmental resources and workforce development.
- Anderson Township Senior Center Advisory Committee ensures the senior center continues to foster a creative and intellectually stimulating environment that enhances the lives of area seniors.
- Anderson Tree Committee promotes and manages healthy, safe, and appropriate trees along township streets and on public grounds or roadways. It also provides guidance to Anderson Township’s tree planting program.
- Greater Anderson Township Betterment Committee is a non-profit committee that facilitates behind-the-scenes activity to support community-wide improvements and projects.
Two committees include a five-year term, or one-year term for alternates:
- Zoning Commission hears cases that involve modifying the Anderson Township Zoning Map or the Anderson Township Zoning Resolution.
- Board of Zoning Appeals reviews appeals to the township’s Zoning Resolution and other development-related applications.
These standing committees require trustee approval for membership.
