Award Recognizes Community’s ‘Great Trees’

One of Anderson Township’s assets, its abundance of beautiful trees, is recognized annually with the “Great Trees” award. Five trees have been named winners of the township’s award, sponsored by the volunteer Tree Committee.

Awards are given on Arbor Day each year for the previous year. Any private or public property tree is eligible if the property owner agrees to the nomination.

The 2026 winners and their categories include:

• Shade Tree - 6873 High Meadows Drive, Ash Tree
• Evergreen Tree (tie) - 1017 Anderson Hills Drive, Norway Spruce
• Evergreen Tree (tie) - 863 Birney Lane, Eastern White Pine
• Ornamental Tree - 3154 Hawkslanding Drive, Red Buckeye
• Fall Color - 1651 Emerald Glade Lane, Red Maple

If your tree flowers or is otherwise at its best before you submit your nomination form, please take photos for the committee to review. Photos can be captured at any time of the year; submit 2027 nominations by March 1, 2027.
