Homearama in Anderson … 1978 and 1969

This fall, Homearama returns to Anderson after a 40-year hiatus.

In 1978, Georgetown Village off Hunley Road hosted the show, with homes on Deaconsbench. Sixteen homes were open, with a design and emphasis on energy savings, paneling, and getting a good deal on land. Choosing a decorative house phone was even advertised as an element of having a stylish home!

Nearly 10 years earlier, in 1969, “Space age living” was a big feature for the show, held just up the road off Little Dry Run. These luxury homes were advertised as being long on “space” and convenience, and set in the “clean air” of the suburbs. Fourteen homes comprised the 1969 showcase, on Kimbee Drive and Veraview Court in “Sunburst Hills” subdivision, referred to as “Hunley Hills.”
