Holiday Telephone Scam Warning

Just hang up! That’s the message from Attorney General David Yost who warns that illegal robocallers are trying to get your money by posing as a legitimate business. These criminals act like they are representatives of  Apple, Amazon or PayPal to try and bilk you out of cash.

Yost noted that these scammers call out of the blue and suggest – under the falsehood of wanting to help remedy the situation – that a large purchase has been charged to your credit card.

“These impostors want to get you on the line and cause panic so you cough up personal information. My hope is that you will answer by ending the call,” he said.
