Make Your Holiday a Green One
‘Tis the season to celebrate…. Then recycle! Make sure those online shopping boxes so conveniently sent to your home find a new life in your curbside recycling bin.
Statistics show that more than 1 million tons of additional trash, about 25 percent more, is generated between Thanksgiving Day and New Year’s Day. With a little effort, you can reduce the amount of waste you generate.
Plan to recycle:
• Christmas cards and wrapping paper
• Glass jars and bottles, steel, aluminum cans and plastic bottles
• Packaging such as cardboard boxes and some paper filling
Anderson Township’s Recycling Center, 7954 Beechmont Ave., adds a giant recycling bin during the holidays to handle the added recycling volume. Stop by and load up all your recyclables in the large bins provided 24/7. Please note, Styrofoam is not accepted for recycling.
Recycle your Christmas tree at Bzak Landscaping, 3295 Turpin Lane (off Ohio 32). The sites will be open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Saturday (excluding Christmas and New Year’s Day), to receive holiday greenery. No need to cut your tree - Christmas trees can be dropped off whole. Before dropping off your greenery or Christmas tree, please remove ornaments, tinsel, tree bags, etc.
