Be Cautious at Church Street Railroad Crossing in Newtown During Maintenance

The Church Street Railroad stop in Newtown is undergoing maintenance related to crossing gates. Cincinnati Eastern Railroad announced that flaggers will direct motorists to stop before entering the intersection.

Motorists should note that flaggers may manually operate the gate once traffic is confirmed stopped, after which the train will enter the crossing area.

According to the Newtown Police Department, there may be times when the gates malfunction and go down, but a train is not in the area. During these incidents, motorists are not permitted to go around the gates. It is a misdemeanor to do so and an arrestable offense.

If this occurs, notify Newtown police at 911, 513.825.2280 or 513.561.7697. An officer will notify the railroad maintenance department and confirm that no train will be passing. The officer will direct motorists through the crossing or redirect traffic to Roundbottom Road.
