April Outdoor Warning Siren System Test Cancelled
HAMILTON COUNTY, OHIO – Due to potential severe weather conditions in Hamilton County and in an effort to avoid confusion as to whether the activation is a real event, the Hamilton County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (EMHSA) will not be conducting the regular monthly test of the Outdoor Warning Siren System today, April 13, 2022. The next regularly scheduled siren test will be Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at noon.
Basic criteria for cancelling the activation of the Outdoor Warning Sirens include:
Extreme cold, freezing rain/drizzle, and/or icing that may damage the equipment.
Presence of severe weather (or potential severe weather) occurring in the local area, which may cause confusion as to whether the activation is a real event.
Basic criteria to activate the sirens:
The National Weather Service issues a Tornado Warning for all or part of Hamilton County,
A tornado is reported by a local public safety official; or
A dangerous situation occurs which requires the public to seek shelter indoors immediately.
